Vapur featured in GDR’s Innovation Report

Vapur was featured in the Product Innovation Section of GDR’s Global Innovation Report! The feature is posted below.

“The Vapur Anti-bottle is an eco-friendly reusable bottle that can be folded or flattened when empty, allowing it to slot into pockets and bags. The durable bottle can be continually reused and is designed to withstand everyday usage and washing. It can also be frozen and used as an ice-pack. A small label allows the bottle to be personalized with the user’s name, while a clip can be used to attach it to the inside of a bag. Shipped in flattened form, the bottles require less space and fuel to transport than rigid drinking bottles. For each truck of Vapur bottles, it would take nine trucks to delivery the same quantity of regular bottles. In addition, Vapur shipping boxes are made from recycled paper board and printed with soy in, using a wind-powerred printing process. The 16oz bottles are available online, priced at  $8.95 each, or $29.95 for a four-pack.”

Vapur goes digging in the Sonoran Desert.

We recently received this great story from a happy Vapur-trailer. Enjoy!

“Wanted to pass on the praise the Vapur bottle received on a recent field trip. My son took the bottle—attached to his belt loop so always handy but hands free—on his recent field trip to an archeological dig. The water-consumption-push for a pack of kids on a field trip to an archeological dig in the sonoran desert is obviously high so “are you drinking your water? do you have your water?” is a common question/focus.

My son was far and away the most “handy with his water” kid there. The convenience of its attaching meant it was never accidentally (or lazily!) left lying around the dig like some other bottles were, its attachment and ease of carrying meant he never had to pawn it off onto an adult to carry for him while he did things (like many other bottles were) and, most fabulously from our perspective, he just folded it up and shoved it in his pocket when it was empty and didn’t just pitch it in the trash as many other children—and teachers!—did with theirs!

I had told Jet that he could have just left it hanging on his belt loop empty, but he said nah, he liked that once he was done with it he could just put it away in his pocket and forget about it, running around like a spaz or whatever and grubbing in the dirt and otherwise being a 10-year-old boy.

Every teacher and parent there wanted one, because all of its other adult-directed good points aside, this is one kid friendly, school friendly, field trip friendly product.” -Diane

Vapur joins the conversation at Opportunity Green 2009

On November 7 & 8, the Vapur team attended this year’s Opportunity Green conference at UCLA. This global sustainability conference was chock-full of innovative ideas and a shared passion for change. The day began with a riveting show from famed photographer Chris Jordan, who vividly illustrates the scale of our trash and captured thousands of dead albatrosses on Midway Island in the Gyre . Annie Leonard shared the story behind her critique of American consumerism, the Story of Stuff. We even heard advertising change agents who are transforming the COP15 UN Climate Change Conference on Dec 7, 2010 into a global campaign for hope via Hopenhagen.

Read the the Los Angeles Times article about the conference, featuring our friend Kevin Krohner for IOS Technologies. We first wrote about the conference here.
